Alaska electric light and power company is seeking an individual for the following position:

 Energy Services Specialist

The person in this position assists AEL&P's customers in planning for safe and efficient electrical consumption and reports to the General Manager.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Managing AEL&P's Demand Side Management Programs.

  • Updating AEL&P's conservation plan.   

  • Providing AEL&P's customers with information and education (or guidance) as it relates to conservation, energy efficiency information, upgrades and improvements.

  • Teaching electrical safety in Juneau schools annually and other organizations within the borough of Juneau as requested.

  • Managing AEL&P's electric vehicle program.

  • Assisting the Consumer Services department in resolving customer energy usage problems. 

  • Participating in events such as the annual home show as an AEL&P representative.

  • Attending Juneau City and Borough energy committee meetings, heating districts discussions, energy related building code initiatives, etc.

  • Periodically serving as media spokesperson.

Education and Experience:  Bachelor's Degree in public relations, economics, communications, business administration, engineering or other related fields.  Experience in the utility industry or energy efficiency expertise is preferred.

Substitution:  Extensive related experience may be substituted for degree requirements.

Other Desirable Skills and Aptitudes:  The ideal candidate is self-directed, has good communications skills, enjoys and has experience with customer relations and is knowledgeable about the Alaska Regulatory Commission procedures.  The applicant should be flexible and willing to learn and support functions of the other departments within the company.

The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $100,000, depending on qualifications.  A competitive benefit package is included.
