In the early 1900s, Juneau was still a booming gold rush town and there was need for protection. Winfield S. Pullen, AEL&P's manager at the time, thought it was necessary for the manager to protect the office and employees of AEL&P. With this in mind, Mr. Pullen kept a 1918 circa 32 caliber revolver in his desk drawer, ready to use if the need arose. Fortunately it never did and he passed the revolver on to the next manager, Franz Nagel, who in turn passed it on to William A. Corbus, and he passed it on to James S. Webb. In more recent years the revolver has not been considered necessary and has been disarmed and placed in a vault for safe keeping. However, it will continue to be passed on to future managers to carry on the tradition.
