June 1, 2008 -- AEL&P announced today that repairs were completed to the Snettisham Transmission Line Sunday evening.  Switching was completed and Snettisham hydro power was restored to Juneau at 9:17 p.m., Sunday evening.  The diesel generators were shut down at that time.

Shutting off the the diesel generators so much earlier than originally expected will result in much lower rates during the second month of the Emergency Cost of Power Adjustment.  AEL&P will announce the new rate early this week.

Customers will not see the reduced rate until their next billing period.  Until that time, customers who continue to conserve will save money on their electric bills.  More information as to when customers will see reduced rates will be posted soon to this website.
