Week 5, 5/17/08 – 5/23/08

Activities

  • Continued to use burn barrels to melt snow at site of tower 3/5.  The remaining foundations were uncovered and are usable.

  • A larger helicopter, a Bell 214, from Ketchikan was brought up to set two excavators at the site of tower 3/5 to move snow to uncover the twelve guy anchors.

  • Ten of the twelve guy anchors were found, two were not, but were replaced.

  • While the helicopter from Ketchikan was in, replacement tower 3/4 set in place.

  • Work was done to spool line and prepare tensioners and tuggers for the conductor pull

  • A large, heavy lift helicopter, a Bell 234 “Chinook”, was mobilized to the site to lift the remaining two towers in place. 

  • The Chinook set the tugger and tensioner and spools of conductor in place on the mountain.

  • The Chinook set tower 4/6 in place.
