Water heating is
the second largest energy user in your home, second only to heat.
If you sign up for AEL&P's water-heater rebate program, you'll
get a $4 rebate on your electric bill each month from November
through May.
Here's how the
program works:
A switch is
installed on your water heater that is capable of interrupting
power to the heater during longer outages and emergencies.
Here's why these switches are a benefit to our entire
community. Following a power outage, every furnace,
refrigerator, water heater (without a switch), and electric
appliance that was on at the time of the outage, will all come
back on at the same time when power is restored.
This creates a huge
electrical demand that can greatly slow our efforts to restore
your power. Our switch keeps the water heater from turning
on for several minutes after the power is restored. This
delay creates less stress on AEL&P's system, which in turn
reduces the actual outage time.
You qualify for
our switch if ...
