POSITION DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Billing Specialist
Department: Consumer Affairs
Reports To: Director of Consumer Affairs
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for generating, reviewing, printing and mailing customer billing statements on a daily basis as well as managing the Levelized Billing program.

KEY or ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Customer Billing (generating, reviewing, correcting, printing, and mailing)
  • Managing the AEL&P Levelized Billing Program
  • Completing Billing Adjustments
  • Responding to Billing questions directly related to this position
  • Managing bulk mail process

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
Secondary functions of this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Customer Service support
  • Scanning documents
  • Maintaining Billing supplies
  • Maintaining billing and mailing equipment

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires a minimum of 5 years of office experience. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience with large scale billing and are proficient with Microsoft Office.

EQUIPMENT UTILIZED:
Duties of this position will require regular use of a desktop computer, keyboard, mouse, telephone, printer, large billing inserter and letter folding equipment, as well as other office equipment as required for the job.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
In order to meet all expectations of this position you will need to be able to lift 20 pounds without assistance, sit and stand for long periods of time (depending on task being completed.)

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
For an employee to succeed in this position they will need to be accurate, organized, enjoy routine tasks as well as problem solving, have good analytical skills, and be able to demonstrate math aptitude, 10-key skills and word/excel experience. Testing will be required of each candidate through the Juneau Job Center.

Salary:
The position is a grade 5 with an hourly wage range of $20.64 to $27.37. Salary is dependent upon experience.
