SEASONAL ENGINEERING STUDENT Department: Transmission & Distribution Posted On: Friday, January 15, 2021 Job Title: Seasonal Engineering Student Department: Transmission & Distribution Reports To: T&D Engineer FLSA Status: Non-Exempt POSITION SUMMARY: This position is primarily a summertime seasonal position with opportunity for employment during school breaks. Responsibilities include electrical system assets data collection, database entry, and AutoCAD/ArcGIS map updates. KEY or ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Working as a team to complete an assigned task in a reasonable amount of time. Selfmotivated asset tracking including operating a motor vehicle, computer literacy, technical skills, and working in a professional and safe manner. SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: Assist Department as needed. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Must be 18 years of age or older and currently enrolled in an acceptable engineering or GIS degree program. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must authorize preemployment release of Department of Motor Vehicles records to validate insurability according to Company practice. Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Basic literacy in AutoCAD, ESRI ArcGIS, and Microsoft Office programs is preferred. Dates of employment are typically between May 1st and September 30th. EQUIPMENT UTILIZED: Motor-vehicle, office equipment, data collection tools. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: In order to meet all expectations of this position you will need to be able to lift 50 lbs. without assistance and be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. This position occasionally requires hiking on steep and uneven terrain. MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: For an employee to succeed in this position they will need to: utilize analytical skills for complex problem solving, prioritize workload, work efficiently and meet deadlines, collaborate with coworkers, and adapt to changing schedules.
